2023- Larissa’s Birthday

 “ For we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men. “ (1 Corinthians 4:9)

I read that verse this morning in a devotional and it made me think of yesterday when Larissa and I were in a boat ride. We are visiting Paris for her very special 15th Birthday and I praise God for the opportunity of being here visiting this country and seeing the beautiful and historical sites and in our boat ride yesterday in the Seine River we were in a big boat with other 600 people were we could either ride downstairs or upstairs in a big deck type outlooking all the historical sites but specially seeing people sitting by the river.

Something very peculiar would happen when our boat was passing by these people. They were probably used to see this boat and “wave” to the unknown people inside the boat! During the one hour boat trip I could watch with intense interest those that didn’t wave at first starting to wave and there from the city some people would make heart shape with their hands while others would wave with both hands and yet some would shyly wave with one hand and smile. Seeing this made me think how people hunger for love, for a recognition, for a simple smile even if it’s from an unknown person as if those waving of the hand could bring some hope, some type of excitement wow I just waved to an unknown person and she did wave back to me!! Amazing isn’t it!! I could picture a type of bond between people that I never saw and probably will never see again!

It makes me think of Heaven!! There we will meet with people we never saw before and also with dearly beloved friends!! We will receive many waves and smiles and hugs from everybody but what if Jesus wasn’t there? Would Heaven be the same? I recently heard a song that made me think of that, the song is from “ The Nebblett Family” called Strangest Dream:

 “Last night I had the strangest dream, an angel carried me to Heaven’s Gate,

Glory flowed out a golden stream, the angel said: “ Go right in, celebrate!”

But then the Angel asked what if Jesus wasn’t there?

What if He were still out on a cross somewhere?

What would you say?

What would you do ? ……

All of us should ask what we’re really longing for,

Special things for us or the honor of our Lord?”

And that’s it! The song really got me thinking and talking to God !

“Let us watch unto prayer. This will help us to realize that we are to be under the control of Christ, our divine Leader. He endows us with steadiness of purpose, with subdued Christlike impulses, and with sound judgment, enabling us to think soberly and yet kindly.”(TDG 238)

The Lord is good, and greatly to be praised. Let us learn to praise Him with our voices, and to realize that at all times we are in excellent companionship—even with God and with His Son, Jesus. We are a spectacle to the unfallen worlds, to angels, and to our fellow men. A realization of this will lead us to go forth as the Lord may direct, with a firm, well-garrisoned heart. – {TDG 238.2}

And here I share a few pictures from our trip knowing that behind every achievement there is a God who made it possible!

God be with until we meet again!

With love
