UNSELFISHNESS and REVERENCE

Image
"Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right." {Proverbs 20:11} Unselfishness was the character quality from last week and for this week we had Reverence! There are still so much to learn about unselfishness and as we read the story of Ruth chapter 1-4 in our bible we learned from her unselfish character trait and just how much she devoted her life to her mother-in-law! Knowing this and having my own mother-in-law living with us for 7 months now,  made me think of how selfish I am and how much of my selfishness I can see in my children as they copy my wrong impulses and inclinations toward her! By watching the wisdom of my elderly mother-in-law I learned to appreciate her presence and in prayer I asked God to teach me how to love, because God is Love and love conquers everything!! That's a daily prayer that I must moment by moment in my thoughts learn to pray until it becomes a natural habit! Learning Reverence, respect ...

The Calm Down Jar

Image
Hi!! I haven't been writing here for a while so I wanted to wish you a happy and blessed 2014 and this year I urge myself to write at least once a week! Let's pray that I can keep my goal in view not forgeting to look to my Savior as a Counselor and Help, forgetting what's behind and looking for the things that are to come! We can look to our past just to be thankful and to use it as a learning experience: "We have nothing to fear for the future, except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us, and His teaching in our past history ." (—Ellen G. White, Life Sketches, 196) With that thought in mind let me share with you what the kids and I did today as an experiment : THE CALM DOWN JAR Of course that Logan got the blue because that's his favorite colour and Larissa got the pink one or reddish kind of colour, we tried to make it pink. And here are the ingredients: -2 tubes of glitter glue; -1/2 of glitter - warm water -food coloring ...

Be content

Image
"I have learned in whatsoever state I am that I should be content"(Philippians4:11) Sabbath School: I just love Elena the most enthusiastic sabbath school teacher.  Today was communion at church or foot washing; Jesus is our only example and we do it in remembrance of Him.  It's a beautiful day! We went to the cemetery and distributed some "Great Controversy" books and also slipped some on the doors.  God is so good and here's the sunshine   And the beautiful blue sky Thankful for the sabbath day and the perfect weather!!  And for a sweet little girl that holds yellow flowers!!

The bedside prayer!

Image
Today as I was putting my children to sleep a remembrance came to my mind when I told Larissa and Logan not to sleep with a cord close to them and the story is this: When Logan was 3 years old I was sleeping on my bed when I felt a strong impression on my mind that I should go to my kids bedroom and pray for them. I usually did it and I remember that I had already prayed for my kids on that day and I was laying down on my bed but just couldn't sleep. So I went to my kids room Larissa used to sleep on a crib for she was not even 2 years old and as I was kneeling down in prayer beside Logan's bed when I saw him moving and stretching his arms and as I opened mine eyes from praying I saw Logan all tangled in an electric cord from his bedside light. He was sleeping but the cord was around his neck and one arm. I really don't know how he was tangled like that but how much I praise my wonderful and mighty God for speaking to me through the strong impression on that particular nigh...

Windsor Castle

Image
Today I read about David and his fall, his repentance and God's forgiveness and mercy. David's children were not obedient because of his sins; but there was still hope for him and for you and me: "Whoever under the reproof of God will humble the soul with confession and repentance, as did David, may be sure that there is hope for him. Whoever will in faith accept God’s promises, will find pardon. The Lord will never cast away one truly repentant soul. He has given this promise: “Let him take hold of My strength, that he may make peace with Me; and he shall make peace with Me.” Isaiah 27:5. “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah 55:7. – {PP 726.5} Today we visited the Windsor Castle It's a nice place, full of history: The kids were happy and enjoyed it! Seeing this castle surely made me remind of David in his Kingdom a...

Keeping love alive!

Image
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Colossians 3:18, 19. How much trouble and what a tide of woe and unhappiness would be saved if men, and women also, would continue to cultivate the regard, attention, and kind words of appreciation and little courtesies of life which kept love alive and which they felt were necessary in gaining the companions of their choice. If the husband and wife would only continue to cultivate these attentions which nourish love, they would be happy in each other’s society and would have a sanctifying influence upon their families. They would have in themselves a little world of happiness and would not desire to go outside this world for new attractions and new objects of love....  In the marriage contract men and women have made a trade, an investment for life, and they should do their utmost to control their words of impatience and fretfulness, even mo...

Ups and downs, really?

Image
You know after I wrote the last post we came home and during family worship we read: Those who are unwilling to forsake every sin and to seek earnestly for God’s blessing, will not obtain it. But all who will lay hold of God’s promises as did Jacob, and be as earnest and persevering as he was, will succeed as he succeeded. “Shall not God avenge His own elect, which cry day and night unto Him, though He bear long with them? I tell you that He will avenge them speedily.” Luke 18:7, 8. – {PP 203.2} Forsake? What does this word means? So I should abandon every sin! And it includes yelling at my children, loosing my temper, lacking of love...  All the above and plus all that makes my heart ache as I talk to God!! Children are so precious and I sure won't have them forever so I don't have to waste my time with ups an downs but I can and should earnestly seek for God's help and guidance in every word I say and every action I take because I know that it's weighting on me! I can...

Children's Devotionals

Image
I really want to share with you the devotionals we use to read in the afternoon! I used to do it as an early morning devotional for them but it didn't work for me! Here's http://www.gracelink.net/ For my son I click on the primary and for my daughter we use the kindergarten! Here's the primary lesson and what we have learned so far: After listening to the story Logan and Larissa decided to build an altar just like Elijah: Look at what Jeremiah 33:3 says: And this is what Larissa's lesson says: Romans 8:38-39 38  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39  Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. So grateful for God's love for me!! It was a blessing to study it on a park surrounded by nature! I'm really thankful for Internet and ...
