Keeping love alive!

Image
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them. Colossians 3:18, 19. How much trouble and what a tide of woe and unhappiness would be saved if men, and women also, would continue to cultivate the regard, attention, and kind words of appreciation and little courtesies of life which kept love alive and which they felt were necessary in gaining the companions of their choice. If the husband and wife would only continue to cultivate these attentions which nourish love, they would be happy in each other’s society and would have a sanctifying influence upon their families. They would have in themselves a little world of happiness and would not desire to go outside this world for new attractions and new objects of love....  In the marriage contract men and women have made a trade, an investment for life, and they should do their utmost to control their words of impatience and fretfulness, even mo...

Today as I opened my bible I was in the bible concordance in the word "wrote" as I was called to look at this word in the book of 2John 5 " And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another." Hum, I was impressed that this words were written for me!  " THAT WE LOVE ONE ANOTHER"  How? I read John 13:34 and it says: " A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." To love as Christ loved means unselfishness at all times and in all places , by kind words and pleasant looks. These costs those who give them nothing, but yet leave behind a fragrance that surrounds the soul. Their effect can never be estimated. Not only are they a blessing for the receiver, but to the giver.( MS 17, 1899, Ellen White) For breakfast I blended I handful of cashews and the other handful of h...

The power of Prayer

Image
"And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee."( 2Chronicles 14:11) The prayer of Asa is one that every Christian believer may fittingly offer.... In life’s conflict we must meet evil agencies that have arrayed themselves against the right. Our hope is not in man, but in the living God. With full assurance of faith we may expect that He will unite His omnipotence with the efforts of human instrumentalities, for the glory of His name. Clad with the armor of His righteousness, we may gain the victory over every foe. [31] – {CC 203.5} Today was also the day that some virtual friends had a virtual revelation of the friends we have been praying for one month! As we read the book " The Incredible Power of Prayer" by Roger Morneau we...

Isaiah 58:13 and 14  " 13  If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the  Lord , honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: 14  Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord ; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the   Lord   hath spoken it." Woke up today with a beautiful blue sky and the sunshine! If you live in England you know that days like this are rare even during summer but God can do what we can't and I just praise His name for sending the sun to shine through my window!! Today is the 15 of month 6 so I opened my bible at the book of John and turned to chapter 15 and read through verse 1-6 One time I told a "children story" at church about it and I had a withered leaf and a b...
