Obedience and Spring Time

Image
The character quality for this week's lesson is Obedience. "Obedience to God's counsel brings peace to our lives"  and it seems like we repeat this character quality many times in our homeschool materials. Here's the memory verse for this week: We started a new year in our Family Bible Lessons and for this quarter we are learning about Birds. www.sonlighteducation.com Here is a little bit about this Year 2 Quarter 1 from Sonlight Ministry Family Bible Lesson: The kids with their friends got some tadpoles and we brought 7 home We will share more about it during the coming weeks and see how the tadpoles are growing :) so far 2 of it got legs; Spring Time is the happiest time of all!! There's flowers blooming in every corner, the green grass that covers the earth is like a carpet that spreads everywhere.  "While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest...

Friends are Heaven sent

Image
Last week I received a book from a friend and it has been a blessing to me. It's called "Beautiful in God's Eyes". I got it in Portuguese and it belongs to my friend but I was so happy to receive it, specially because it arrived by mail and I'm so old fashioned and appreciate receiving anything my mail, let alone a book! Thank you my friend, It was a big surprise and it came in a perfect time!  God's time is always perfect. One thing I've learned is that God always send friends on our way. Friends that can share their life with us, share their experiences, share their joy and even their sorrows, share recipes, share their children but friends that brings us close to God are sure Heaven sent and that's my only one desire: to bring you close to God and have friends that will help me to have a closer relationship with God by our conversation, by our actions, by our lifestyle.  Heaven sent friends will rejoice when you rejoice and help you to stand whe...

UNSELFISHNESS and REVERENCE

Image
"Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right." {Proverbs 20:11} Unselfishness was the character quality from last week and for this week we had Reverence! There are still so much to learn about unselfishness and as we read the story of Ruth chapter 1-4 in our bible we learned from her unselfish character trait and just how much she devoted her life to her mother-in-law! Knowing this and having my own mother-in-law living with us for 7 months now,  made me think of how selfish I am and how much of my selfishness I can see in my children as they copy my wrong impulses and inclinations toward her! By watching the wisdom of my elderly mother-in-law I learned to appreciate her presence and in prayer I asked God to teach me how to love, because God is Love and love conquers everything!! That's a daily prayer that I must moment by moment in my thoughts learn to pray until it becomes a natural habit! Learning Reverence, respect ...

Lucy and the Rabbit

Image
Today when Luke came home for lunch I took a deserved break and went for a walk in the quietness of the country! What peace we often forsake is found in nature.  As I breathed and walked my mind was resting and refreshing from my children's  sweet little voices of demanding and the duties of a housewife.  On my way back as I was crossing a very slow road something called my attention, it was a baby rabbit laying on the side of the road and it seemed was hit by a car.  After 10 minutes of trying to manage to grab the hopeless creature, my hands are really not delicate at all, and I definitely could not be a doctor or a veterinary, I earnestly asked God for help and the verse: "For The Lord God will help you.."(Isaiah 50:7) came to my mind. Looking at that poor and hurting creature and wanting so much to help him and do something for it, I that am just a sinful person and full of bad habits, I that am just a person couldn't help to se...

A Higher goal...

Image
Today I reached my goal! The 30 days of writing a thankful note daily is finished.  I truly didn't know how to start a blog but how much easier it's to put an end in something. I had everything that I wanted to write in my mind all day long.  And now it's like a blank came....Though writing is a therapy to me, somedays it was becoming an obligation and not a thankful note, and other times I didn't know I could say so much and do so much at once. The recipes I shared, the routine I wrote it down, the pictures taken all was not planned by me but I know that there's someOne Higher than I and Knows the end from the beginning He touched me to write every single post because all things may not happen the ways we plan but it sure happens the way God has planned.  However sometimes I would stay up 'till late and miss the talk with my husband because I got to write down all the things I did throughout my day and this way I didn't miss only the night talking with my h...

The Faith I live By

Image
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Daniel 12:2. – {FLB 182.1} It is at midnight that God manifests His power for the deliverance of His people. The sun appears, shining in its strength. Signs and wonders follow in quick succession. The wicked look with terror and amazement upon the scene, while the righteous behold with solemn joy the tokens of their deliverance. Everything in nature seems turned out of its course. The streams cease to flow. Dark, heavy clouds come up, and clash against each other. In the midst of the angry heavens is one clear space of indescribable glory, whence comes the voice of God like the sound of many waters, saying, “It is done.” Revelation 16:17.... – {FLB 182.2} That voice shakes the heavens and the earth. There is a mighty earthquake, “such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.” Revelation 16:18.... The whole e...
